Charter Member and current Chief of NUSAR. Graduated Newtown High School. Earned a Forestry Degree from Unity College. Charter member Explorer Post 85 Westborough Mass, 1967. Emergency Service Post 5th oldest Post continuously operating in the Nation. Joined Newtown Hook and Ladder Co.#1 1972, has been a continuously Active Firefighter, holding many officers positions and is a Past Chief. Owner Cross Cut Tree and Land Management LLC a tree removal and forestry Company. Owner Applied Rescue Technique LLC ,a Technical rescue training company.Serving the Fire, Police, Rescue Amusement, Tower and Wind Industries. USCG licensed Captain with a 50ton Master rating, Working at the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk CT. Captaining their 40’ research vessel “Oceanic”

Dr. Mike is a PADI certified Dive Master with more than 25 years of diving experience, having completed more than 2,000 dives. Since 2008 he has served as co-President of the Fairfield County Diving Association. Dr. Mike is also one of the original members of The Maritime Aquarium’s Dive Team and serves as a Team Leader.

Dr. Mike, his wife Maureen and their 3 daughters moved to Newtown in 2004. They are active members of St Rose and both Dr. & Mrs. Cassetta help coach the St Rose School track team.

Connor has been a member of the team since 2013.
